People speak about blood pressure like high blood pressure and low blood pressure. However, they often forget about what is the normal blood pressure range according to age. It is important to know the normal range of blood pressure to maintain your health.

People often talk about the risks attached to having low blood pressure or high blood pressure. However, to understand the ‘normal’ range of blood pressure, it is important to understand what the blood pressure actually is. As everyone knows, our heart beats regularly and it pumps the blood that the body needs. The blood carries energy and oxygen with it. So, when the blood moves, it pushes against the blood vessel’s sides. The strength using which the blood pushes the vessels is termed as the blood pressure. Blood pressure range in children

When a baby is born, it has the lowest range of blood pressure. It increases with age. Usually, kids exhibit a normal range of blood pressure. However, it varies from child to child as there is a difference in the way each child grows. Usually, when the blood pressure range is above 85 then it can be considered to be a warning sign.

Blood pressure range in teenagers and adults

When you reach puberty or you are an adult, the range of the normal blood pressure remains the same that is 120/80. What is systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure?

When we speak of the normal range of blood pressure. It is important to understand the concept of diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure.

Systolic blood pressure

In simple words, the systolic blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the heart when it beats.

Diastolic blood pressure

Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the heart when it relaxes.

Higher than normal range of blood pressure means?

When your blood pressure rises above 120 in terms of your systolic blood pressure then it is considered to be a problem. However, if it remains under 140 then that condition is called prehypertension. It is a serious condition but one can prevent the prehypertension from turning into hypertension. More than 140 in terms of systolic blood pressure is a serious health condition called hypertension.

Lower than normal range of blood pressure?

When your blood pressure dips from 80 in terms of your Diastolic blood pressure. Then it can turn into a problem. This condition is called low blood pressure. People dealing with this problem, experience dizziness, fatigue, and lightheadedness, etc.
